5 Travel Packing Tips You Need To Use Immediately Reading Disney Packing List w/ Printable Checklist 10 minutes

Taking a trip to Disneyland for the first time is a double edged sword. There’s no doubt it’s a magical vacation like none other.

Buuuut it can also be a chaotic and stressful experience. The long lines for the rides, getting sunburned in the heat, and not being able to feel your toes after all the walking. Who knew the happiest place on earth could cause so much misery!

If you really want to know what you’re getting into and prepare for every outcome, you’ve come to the right place. This Disney packing list was compiled with tips from seasoned and frequent Disney park goers, so it’s tried and true. Here’s what to bring to disneyland to ensure your day at the park goes by without a hitch!

What To Bring To Disneyland (For Teens And Adults)

This is the packing list for Disneyland if you’re going by yourself or with friends. If you’re bringing kids along, you're going to want to bring all of these items as well as the extra items on our Disneyland packing list for kids. But if you’re going to be child free at the park, here’s what to bring to disneyland.

Good Shoes

First and foremost, you’re going to want comfortable, durable, thick soled walking shoes. Don’t just throw on your every-day tennis shoes. The extra support and cushion of a shoe built for walking is going to make a HUGE difference in your foot and leg pain at the end of the day. Number one Disneyland hack is substance over style here!

Water Bottle

Another Disneyland hack you should know? All Disney food venues will give you free water. That being said, you’re still going to want to bring your own reusable bottle. Staying hydrated is crucial when spending hours walking. Especially on those sunny Disneyland days. Skip the line at the drinking fountain and take a sip whenever you need. Trust me, you’re going to need it.

Hand Sanitizer

If you don’t already bring hand sanitizer with you wherever you go, you’re gonna want to start now. All around the park you’re going to be touching the same railings, ride restraints, and seats as thousands of other people. Hand sanitizer is a must-have on your Disney packing list!

Tylenol

Long days, constant walking, and the heat of the sun? Headaches can sneak up on you at the theme park for sure. Slip some tylenol into your bag so minor aches and pains don’t ruin your day. A simple dose can be the difference between powering through or feeling miserable.

Bandaids And Blister Patches

Blisters, scraped knees, and minor cuts can happen more often when you’re out of your routine. And while each park has an amazing first aid clinic for free, it takes valuable time out of your day to find a clinic just for a little scrape. Having a few bandaids and blister patches handy means you can slap on a quick fix, and get right back to enjoying your day at the park.

Nausea Medication

If you know you don’t get queasy at the park, you’re good to go and can skip this Disneyland packing list item. But if it’s been a while since you’ve been on a roller coaster, or there’s any chance you might get sick, don’t chance it. A small dose of nausea medication can easily keep the queasiness away and leave you worry free.

Extra Hair Ties

If you have long hair, chances are you already keep extra hair ties on you at all times. But there’s nothing worse than forgetting to slip one on your wrist last minute. So I’ve included it on the Disney packing list. With all the movement, wind, and water rides, you’re gonna want to keep your hair from becoming a tangled mess or getting in your eyes.

Reusable Straws

Disney uses paper straws, and we love to see it! But they do tend to get soggy quickly—especially in cold drinks like slushies. Bringing a reusable straw ensures every sip stays enjoyable without falling apart in your mouth. It’s a small item to have on your list that makes a big difference.

Mini Fan

If you missed the many memos already, Disneyland gets hot. Especially in summer. Adding a mini fan to your disneyland packing list can be a game-changer. Prevent overheating and keep everyone cool with a little portable breeze while waiting in long lines. You’ll thank yourself later.

Electrolyte Drink Packets

Between the heat, walking, and excitement, dehydration sneaks up fast. Electrolyte packets help replenish lost fluids quickly, preventing exhaustion and illness.

Sunscreen

Even on cloudy days, sun exposure is intense when you’re outside all day. Protect your skin and avoid painful burns that can make the rest of your trip miserable. Grab one of Gravel's reusable travel containers to put your favorite sunscreen in a small leak-proof container. That way you don’t have to bring your bulky bottle and can still protect your skin.

Sunglasses And/Or A Hat

You don’t want to be squinting your way through the park and miss the full effect of the magic. Protect your eyes with some sunglasses, or bring along a hat. Gravel's 5-panel nylon hats are perfect for your first time at disney because they’re durable, repel water, don’t wrinkle, and dry quick. That way if you get wet on Splash Mountain (as you should!) you don't have to worry about a soggy hat or head for the rest of the day.

Compacted Umbrella

Whether it’s unexpected rain or needing shade in a sunny line, a small umbrella is a lifesaver. Getting one that’s lightweight and easy to carry is a great backup plan for unpredictable weather at Disney.

Phone Charger Pack

Between taking photos, using the Disneyland app, and checking wait times, your phone battery will drain quickly. Everyone’s favorite Disneyland hack is bringing along a portable charger, so you don’t end up stranded with a dead phone halfway through the day.

And that’s the whole Disney packing list! Here’s a free pdf so you can print and check each item off to make sure you don’t forget a thing.

Disney Packing List For Kids

Now that you know what to bring to Disneyland for yourself, here are the additional items you’re going to need for the younger disney fans. Smiles can quickly turn into tears if you’re not prepared. Bring everything above, as well as this Disney packing list for kids to keep them going all day.

Stroller

Even if your child doesn’t usually use a stroller, Disneyland is a whole different level of walking. Kids–at least those 7 and under–will get exhausted from all the miles covered, especially if you're doing multiple park days. A stroller gives them a place to rest, nap, and even snack while on the go, saving everyone from a Disney meltdown.

Thick Sole Shoes

If you can invest in thick-soled shoes for your kids, do. Not only will it help them stay comfy while they walk, but they’ll be able to get the maximum height boost for the rides. Disney requires children with princess heels to take them off before measuring, but with thick-soled shoes you’re golden. Avoid disappointment by making sure your child’s shoes give them the best shot at qualifying for the rides they’re most excited about.

An Extra Set Of Clothes

As I’m sure you’re well aware, accidents, spills, and unexpected messes happen no matter where you are. And no one wants to pay Disney’s premium prices for an emergency outfit. If your child is newly potty trained or prone to accidents, bring extra underwear too—Disney sells very limited kid-sized underwear and none for adults.

Kleenex

Kids and runny noses go hand in hand, and tissues aren’t always easy to find when you need them. Having a small pack of Kleenex on hand saves you from scrambling when allergies or sniffles strike. It’s a simple item on your Disneyland packing list that will get used more than you expect!

Chewable Tylenol

From our experience, kids seem to become extra accident-prone the moment they enter the theme park. Whether it’s a bump, bruise, or unexpected aches and pains, having chewable Tylenol on hand means you’re ready for anything.

Poncho

Rain showers and water rides (like Splash Mountain) can leave you soaked. Even if your kids swear they won’t mind getting wet, they’re likely to start whining when they’re damp and cold. Ponchos are lightweight and easy to pack–totally worth it. You can bring one for yourself too if you’re not a fan of the splash zone.

Small On-The-Go Snacks

Yes, you can bring outside food into the park! And having a few small snacks like granola bars, trail mix, and fruit leather within reach at Disneyland is a lifesaver. Lines for rides (and food) can be long, and kids always seem to realize they’re starving at the worst possible moments. Having quick, mess-free snacks on hand keeps everyone happy and saves you from spending a fortune on park food every time hunger strikes. Plus, it helps keep energy levels up for a long day of magic and walking!

You Are Disneyland Ready!

With this Disney packing list in hand, you’re ready to take on the parks like a pro! Whether you’re visiting solo, with friends, or bringing little ones along for the ride, having the right essentials will make your day smoother, more comfortable, and way less stressful.
